Expert Advice at No Price: Capella Telluride’s Personal Assistants Help Resort Guests Make the Most of Every Moment on the Mountain

Sample Four-Day Itinerary – Including “Hot Summer Tips” – Suggests Great Ways to Explore Telluride’s Natural Playground

TELLURIDE, CO (March 16, 2009) – It’s the ultimate bespoke travel service, yet it comes at no price and in fact may result in valuable savings on an exclusive Telluride, Colorado vacation. All guests of the new Capella Telluride, which made its much-anticipated debut last month, enjoy the signature services of a Capella Personal Assistant who attends to their every need from the moment they reserve their stay. Far more than a concierge, these hand-selected professionals first contact their assigned guests before arrival to discuss interests and preferences, and remain at the guests’ disposal throughout their time at this Telluride luxury hotel. Backed by an insider’s knowledge of this exclusive Colorado mountain resort community, the Personal Assistant can create customized itineraries for resort guests and make all the arrangements necessary to turn those itineraries into a memorable vacation in Telluride, Colorado.

As an example, Lead Personal Assistant John Browning offers up the following four-day itinerary for a guest who wants to experience the very best Telluride and Capella have to offer the summer traveler – with many of the highlights at no or little cost. Combined with Capella Telluride’s great introductory summer rate of $195 per night (subject to availability), this itinerary puts a Telluride, Colorado dream vacation well within reach.

Day 1: Bear Creek Trail and a waterfall picnic
Pack a lunch prepared especially for you by the Capella Telluride chefs, or pick one up from Baked in Telluride as you pass by on the way to the trailhead. Hike from the edge of town up the Bear Creek Trail to the waterfall at its end. Spread out your picnic lunch on one of the large boulders by the falls, and enjoy the cooling mist.

Hot tip for the thrill-seeker: For the ultimate cold shower, bring a bathing suit and stand under the falls to experience the frigid snow melt.

Day 2: Tubing the San Miguel and a spa treat
Purchase a tube at the local Ace Hardware store on Colorado Street, then drop in at Town Park and float down to the Valley Floor (recently designated permanent Open Space thanks to a $50-million donation raised by Telluride residents). Following your day in the great outdoors of Colorado, enjoy a blissful 50 minutes of hydro- and thermotherapy in a private spa suite at The Spa at Capella Telluride. At $100 for two guests, the Capella SelfSpa treatment provides therapeutic mud that spa-goers can smooth over their skin, along with a private sauna, herbal steam room, deep soaking tub and contrasting cool mist shower.

Hot tip for playing it safe: Because rapids can occur when water levels are high, it is advisable to walk the trail next to the river first to assess whether or not you can safely navigate it. Unless water levels are low it is not safe for children.

Day 3: Fly fishing and a meal to remember
Hire a guide and spend the day fly fishing for rainbows, browns and cutties on the San Miguel River, the Delores River, or the high lakes. In the evening, Capella Telluride’s award-winning chef, Kenny Gilbert, will prepare your fish to order. Even better, let the chef at this Colorado luxury resort draw from his own inspiration to cook up a culinary masterpiece, with your catch as the main event.

Hot tip for history buffs: For a fascinating look at Telluride’s mining past, pack your fishing gear and hike to Alta Lakes, where you’ll pass the ghost town of Alta, a former gold mining settlement, on your way.

Day 4: A day in town
Ride the free gondola down to Telluride and enjoy spectacular views of the mountains and town along the way. Spend the day browsing Telluride’s art galleries and one-of-a-kind boutiques, from Bounty Hunter, where you can have cowboy boots custom made and shipped to you in five weeks for not much more cost than an off-the-rack pair, to Cashmere Red for the finest Scottish cashmere. For refreshment, try lunch at one of the kiosk carts in Elk Park, the Coffee Cowboy, or the Sweet Life for ice cream and “penny” candy treats. In the evening, take in a movie at the Historic Nugget Theatre.

Hot tip for an authentic Telluride gift: For the jewelry lover on your gift list, check out the wonderful Indian Pawn (old silver and turquoise bracelets and necklaces) at Hell Bent and Leather on Colorado Street. The proprietor, Chuck Glass, has relationships with many native Navajo and Utes, so all his pieces are beautifully authentic.
