Electrical Engineering Sub-Disciplines: Power Engineering
Electrical Engineering is one of fastest growing areas of industry. There are many different sub-disciplines that are included in the broader definition of electrical engineering. One of these is power engineering. Power engineering degrees are available online in many states. This sub-discipline provides students with the ability to design a range of systems that involve the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity.
Some of the systems that a power engineer is responsible for are transformers, electric generators, and electric motors. A student may specialize in high voltage engineering or power electronics as well. Power grids are the wave of the future with numerous government agencies needing the knowledge that a power engineer brings to the table. It is the power engineer that is responsible for creating the power grids that run entire countries. A power grid connects a variety of generators together with users of the energy. Without power engineers, there would be no power to homes.
